Five Minutes With…

We took a few minutes out at our recent SS13 shoot to have a quick chat with our make-up artist Michael.

photo

What brands can’t you live without in your kit?
Ooh, there are so many great brands but some of my favourites are, Art Deco, Laura Mercier and Kevin Aucoin.

Any make-up artists who you aspire to and admire?
Oh yes, Kevin Aucoin, Marco Sarrasquillo and Charlotte Tilbury.

Which hair and make-up trends are your must-haves for SS13?
Make up wise I’m loving the 60’s inspired trend, monochromatic with a modern twist, think neutral hues and that perfect feline flick. The bold red lip is always a classic staple, pair with minimalistic eyes for that SS13 look.
Geometric partings with graphic lines create really structured partings, my favourite hair trend for SS13!

Any fave beauties you’d like to get your hands on?
I’d love to work with Rita Ora, and Lara Stone is one of the most beautiful people I’ve worked with, inside and out so I’d love to work with her again!

Made In Chelsea

We are SO excited about the return of Made In Chelsea next week!

How amazing does Rosie Fortescue look in our Olena jacket!?

Five Minutes With..

We took a few minutes out at our recent SS13 shoot to have a quick chat with our stylist Caroline!

photo

How long have you worked as a stylist?
About 5 years. Before that I worked in buying, but I needed something more creative, so I started assisting on shoots and it kind of took off from there.

What are your favourite trends for SS13?
I am loving the sports luxe trend. Casual sporty shapes and silhouettes in girly fashion fabrics, like chiffons and silks.

Any key pieces we should be buying for the season?
Monochromatic baseball jackets are a key piece for your wardrobe this summer. Not to be taken to literally though, think of a firm nod towards the varsity look with simple cuts and not too much of a preppy influence.

Meet Pop Couture’s new face – Ksenija

We took five minutes to talk Kate Moss and baking with Ksenija!

Image
Stats: Height: 5’ 11” / Dress size: 8 / Birthplace: Russia

How long have you modelled for?
4 years.

Why Modelling?
My friend who is a photographer asked me to model for him, and I found my passion. I love being in front of the camera!

Who inspires you?
Kate Moss is amazing, but very extreme. My mother is my biggest inspiration, she is always pushing me to achieve and is definitely my moral compass.

Which designer’s do you admire?
I love the clean and classic look, so designers like Calvin Klein and I love Dolce and Gabanna, they really know how to create a romantic, sexy, feminine look.

And when you’re not pulling poses……?
I dance and I bake! I used to dance a lot back home in Russia and I bake a mean carrot cake! I love cake!

Blue Jean Baby!

A staple piece in everyone’s wardrobe, denim has made the transition from functional work wear to key fashion statement!

A sure-fire favourite of the famous and the fashion savvy, we take a look back some of the most memorable denim devotees!

1. Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn sexes up her high waisted, boyfriend fit jeans in, ‘The Misfits.’

2. Catherine Bach AKA Daisy Duke.

Daisy Duke ruled the roost in 70’s cult TV show ‘The Dukes of Hazard!’ and her penchant for denim cut offs became a ‘must-have’ piece for any dedicated and daring Daisy fan.

3. Thelma and Louise.

These 2 feisty friends managed to look effortlessly cool in bleached out mom jeans. The perfect denim double-act!

4. Brooke Shields!

Nothing comes between Brooke and her Calvins!

5. Kate Moss.

It’s thanks to Kate that we all poured ourselves into the skinniest of jeans. We love Kate’s, laidback look in these indigo wash skinnies.

6. Debbie Harry.

Nobody works the double denim better than sex-kitten Debbie Harry.

Green With Envy

ImageA rich, vivid emerald hue was recently announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2013 (Pantone 17-5641, to be precise). And, what with the much anticipated arrival of Saint Patricks’s Day madness, plus new movie Oz The Great And Powerful taking cinema goers by storm, is it any wonder we are loving green at the minute?!

b6afaf2906fee2551b08e54781f84465This precious gem has connotations of luxury, elegance and sophistication but also signifies growth and well-being as well as prosperity and regeneration; what could be better to improve this current economic climate?
8fa172a834656ab3d33736842cca5648So. What does that mean for fashion? Well, surprisingly this colour goes with everything! Literally. Emerald invigorates every colour in the spectrum. That’s because green is nature’s equivalent of a neutral colour. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute says, “The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum”.

Emerald is a colour for all seasons making it perfect for those awkward transitional periods when the weather can’t decide. Spring introduces emerald as an accessory, slowly easing it into summer where it takes on a bigger role as a key player. Wear it with crisp white for an unexpected look or go bold in array of bright jewel tones. Autumn sees the arrival of statement layering and coats in key shapes whilst the end of winter brings the return luxe fabrics and textures for the party season.

Girls Girls Girls!

It’s International Women’s Day! A day to celebrate us girls?
Surely that should be every day!
Today people around the world are honouring the existence of the fairer sex in lots of different ways so here at PC we’ve picked out a few of our favourites!

1) Flowers! Obv. Who doesn’t love flowers?! As a symbol of International Women’s Day flowers are being gifted worldwide. In Italy the yellow mimosa is popular choice whereas Russia prefers the classic red rose. How gorgeous are these?c8622184c68fa5b3c66a9a3148167ee3Flowers are also seen as decoration and adornment, some of our favourites include, corsages, garlands and headpieces.

2) Rouge Lips – In the US women are being encouraged to don their favourite red lipsticks and put on their best pouts as part of the “Rock The Lips” campaign which aims to promote awareness of International Women’s Day. With so many shades available from crimson to raspberry there’s no excuse so dig out your favourite and get those lips red!

3 – Cake & Chocolate! Those Italians sure know how to treat a girl, with chocolate being 2nd (after flowers, of course) on their International Women’s Day gift guide with selected bars and restaurants in England and the US giving away free cupcakes to women. Yum!
