Green With Envy

by popcouturefashion

ImageA rich, vivid emerald hue was recently announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2013 (Pantone 17-5641, to be precise). And, what with the much anticipated arrival of Saint Patricks’s Day madness, plus new movie Oz The Great And Powerful taking cinema goers by storm, is it any wonder we are loving green at the minute?!

That’s because green is nature’s equivalent of a neutral colour. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute says, “The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum”.

Emerald is a colour for all seasons making it perfect for those awkward transitional periods when the weather can’t decide. Spring introduces emerald as an accessory, slowly easing it into summer where it takes on a bigger role as a key player. Wear it with crisp white for an unexpected look or go bold in array of bright jewel tones. Autumn sees the arrival of statement layering and coats in key shapes whilst the end of winter brings the return luxe fabrics and textures for the party season.
